Medomak Exchange
A CULTURE WHERE KINDNESS, CREATIVITY, AND GENEROSITY FLOW
WHO WE ARE & WHAT WE DO

The Medomak House and barn at 124 Friendship Rd. were purchased in the late spring of 2020, to be used for the benefit of the people of Waldoboro and surrounding area. Waldoboro Food Pantry moved into part of the barn space and began operating there in July. The Free Clothing Closet opened in April 2021.
Medomak Exchange was formed as a non-profit organization and held its first board meeting in April 2021. 501(c)(3) status was granted by the IRS in October of 2021. An apartment was built over the food pantry space to house an on-site building coordinator. This construction was completed and occupied in November 2021.

In the summer of 2021 the facility which had housed Burnham's Bloomers (across from Moody's Diner) was purchased to be developed as the Good Things Thrift & Craft Shop. Open in the summer of 2022, Good Things provides household goods and furniture for shoppers who want an alternative to online shopping and purchasing new items, and is a receiving point for others who want to pass some of their belongings on for others to own. It is anticipated that these "exchanges" will provide income to support itself and the other projects of Medomak Exchange, which have been supported by private donations to this point. Additional outbuildings were added in 2023, and the annex was completed in 2024, more than doubling the original space.
The final part of this vision is for the Medomak House to be renovated to be used as an Art, Education and Meeting space for the community.. Built by a member of the Storer family in about 1835, this is a beautiful home which will be updated to be more energy efficient, safe and accessible for small group use.
